MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone should aim for high-quality development which presupposes maintaining balance between scale, quality, and efficiency, Hu Zheng, CEO of Industrial Park Development Company, said at the conference Belt and Road Initiative and the Construction of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone, BelTA has learned.
Hu Zheng stressed that high-quality development is a new requirement, a new objective in the development of the Belt and Road initiative. “This requirement is in line with the development of the China-Belarus industrial park,” he noted. According to Hu Zheng, the Great Stone should keep to sustainable development which presupposes balance between scale, quality, and efficiency. “Increasing the scale will lead to blind, excessive investment, unreasonable activities and will upset the balance between supply and demand,” Hu Zheng said.
According to him, four years since its was founded, the park is at the starting stage of its development. “Today, the park should focus on making full use of its high-quality transport and engineering infrastructure and achieving high energy efficiency,” Hu Zheng believes. “The park should aim not only to increase the number of resident companies but also to assess acquired and spent investment, the scale of economic activities of the residents, production volumes, income from major activities, the actual number of created jobs, its influence on the economy,” he said.
Hu Zheng noted that at present the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is the largest industrial zone China has set up in cooperation with another country within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative and also the largest industrial zone in Europe. “The park has successfully developed the territory of 8.5km2 and now offers favorable conditions to attract investors,” Hu Zhen said. “It has already drawn 44 projects from eight countries. Some $390 million has been invested into construction of transport and engineering infrastructure and related projects. Some manufactures are getting ready to start operations, others are already up and running,” he added.
