MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – The number of electric vehicles in Belarus may reach 50,000 by the end of 2025, Belarus’ Energy Minister Denis Moroz said during his visit to the Lukoml state district power plant, a branch of Vitebskenergo, where he reviewed the enterprise’s operations and met with its staff, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry.
According to the minister, the number of electric vehicles in Belarus has already exceeded 38,500, with monthly growth of more than 2,000. As a result, electricity consumption at charging stations for electric transport is also rising: in 2024 this figure more than doubled compared to 2023, increasing from 18 million to 39 million kWh.
The positive trend continues this year as well: in January-August 2025, electricity consumption at charging stations exceeded 50 million kWh. “This sector will continue to develop actively,” Denis Moroz emphasized. “We expect that by 2030 the number of electric vehicles in the country will increase to 300,000.”
