MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) - Myanmar hopes to expand cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and gain observer status, Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing said at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk on 26 June, BelTA has learned.
“Myanmar is deeply interested in the activities and initiatives of the EAEU and intends to expand cooperation. We intend to further expand the potential of cooperation with the EAEU member states in economy and trade. In the current international environment, which is fraught with numerous challenges, our common task is to act effectively to overcome emerging threats. Despite external economic challenges and sanctions, the EAEU has shown steady progress and achieved significant results in recent years. Let me express my sincere request to support Myanmar’s intention to join the EAEU as an observer state,” the leader of Myanmar said.
