Mishustin: SCO accounts for a third of global GDP

MOSCOW, 18 November (BelTA) - The Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) share of the global gross domestic product has reached one-third, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government at the National Center Russia in Moscow on 18 November.

“Last year, the combined exports of our states accounted for about one-fifth of the global figure. The share of SCO participants in the global gross domestic product has reached one-third,” said Mikhail Mishustin.

In his words, the SCO covers almost the entirety of Eurasia, with the organization now comprising ten member countries, two observer states, and 15 dialogue partners. “It is important to use this impressive collective potential to the fullest to improve the wellbeing of our citizens,” the Russian prime minister emphasized.

According to him, a special task force, established on Russia's initiative, will work on improving the SCO's financial infrastructure. Mikhail Mishustin thanked his colleagues for their support of this proposal.

“Last year, the combined exports of our nations accounted for approximately one-fifth of the global total. The share of SCO member states in the global gross domestic product has reached one third,” Mikhail Mishustin said.
“Our peoples are united by a shared historical memory and mutual respect for one another's cultures and traditions. Together, we recently marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the founding of the United Nations,” he said. The Russian prime minister added that numerous opportunities exist to expand cooperation across various sectors, including science and education, healthcare, youth exchanges, culture, arts, tourism, and sports. “Such initiatives enjoy strong public demand,” Mikhail Mishustin emphasized.
