ALGIERS, 3 December (BelTA) - Industrial cooperation with Algeria is aimed above all at the creation of joint ventures, Belarusian Industry Minister Andrei Kuznetsov told journalists, BelTA has learned.
“We’ve agreed with Algeria’s industry minister to develop cooperation through technology transfer and the establishment of joint ventures. The market is completely new for our products. But we have already identified the companies with which we will cooperate. On our side these are Bobruiskagromash, Amkodor, MAZ, MTZ. We’ve also discussed the possibility of involving BelAZ,” the minister said.
According to him, the priority is given to the establishment of joint production facilities. “That was the main focus of our talks: through joint production we will achieve the desired results for our countries and be able to increase trade,” Andrei Kuznetsov emphasized.
He noted that a protocol has been signed with Amkodor for grain storage equipment worth around $1 million for 2026.
A memorandum has also been signed with MAZ for the production of 300 buses of model 203. “That means 100 buses in 2026, 2027, and 2028, with the number of buses produced rising to 200 per year,” the minister explained.
A potential partner company has been identified in Algeria for cooperation with MTZ. A series of mutual visits by specialists is planned to discuss all details of cooperation. “Here, tractors with 90 horsepower and above are needed, as they intend to develop the southern part of Africa. The soil in this region is much more difficult, and therefore more powerful tractors are required. They already have joint production of less powerful tractors. But we have the competencies and capabilities to produce higher-powered tractors, and we see this market as one to be developed,” he clarified.
Prospects for joint work have also been defined with Bobruiskagromash. “Already in January-February 2026, deliveries of machine kits for balers will begin so that they can be assembled and certified here, giving us access to this market,” Andrei Kuznetsov said.
When asked about the possibility of competition in the Algerian market hindering their plans, the minister replied: “There are many competitors. But we will offer a unique product line so as not to compete directly, overlap, or undercut each other, but to develop and move forward.”
