MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) - Kenya is considering the possibility of establishing an assembly plant for MTZ tractors. The matter was discussed during a visit of a delegation from Kenya led by Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Kenya Amason Jeffah Kingi to the plant, BelTA learned from the press service of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ).
The delegation toured the BELARUS tractor display and paid a visit to the MTZ Museum, the venue for the subsequent talks.
MTZ Director General Taras Murog expressed hope that the visitors were interested in the equipment they saw at the exhibition. “We offer not only tractors as a power unit but the entire range of equipment, that is, the technology for soil cultivation and harvesting. Our enterprise will mark its 80th anniversary next year, and by that time we would like to strengthen our relationship through equipment supplies,” he emphasized, inviting the Kenyan delegation to the enterprise’s anniversary celebration.
Amason Jeffah Kingi stressed the importance of mechanization for the sustainable growth of the agricultural sector. “Our president highlights food security as a priority. The only way to achieve this is through agricultural mechanization. We have seen equipment here that can help our country,” he said.
The Kenyan delegation also proposed exploring the establishment of an assembly plant in Kenya, highlighting the advantages for export logistics to countries in the region. The MTZ director general expressed readiness to develop a baseline proposal and continue the dialogue on further cooperation.
