Governor: Technoparks help translate innovative ideas into new products

GRODNO, 13 October (BelTA) - Technoparks help translate innovative ideas into new products, Grodno Oblast governor Vladimir Karanik said as he visited the science and technology park of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, BelTA has learned.

Now work is underway on the second stage of the science and technology park in Grodno. The building of about 6,000 square meters will house manufacturing and office space, a conference room, an open space and co-working center.

“Innovation is one of the main areas of economic development. Such technoparks are a unique place that bring together people with ideas, with a desire to develop, but who do not have enough opportunities, especially financial ones, to put their ideas into practice," Vladimir Karanik noted. The mission of the technopark is to provide support. This may include necessary infrastructure on preferential terms, tax preferences and even mentoring.

“A technopark unites people of different pursuits and areas of activity. Lately, breakthrough technologies have often emerged at the junction of different sectors that enrich each other," said Vladimir Karanik. Grodno Oblast has a good industrial potential. The park's developments can be introduced into production both at the existing facilities and new ones. There is a demand for new innovative jobs in the region and in the country.

The science and technology park was established in July 2017 at the Tekhnolab training and research and production center founded by Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The park has 12 residents in various fields, including IT and innovative technologies in construction, electrification of transport, and psychology. By the way, a third of the residents are from among students of the university. The university offers programs in innovative entrepreneurship to help students to be more successful in realizing themselves.
