MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – A Gomel Oblast delegation signed several agreements on cooperation with local enterprises, educational institutions, and tourist organizations during a working trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Hungary told BelTA. The embassy has had concurrent accreditation in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2014.
The delegation included representatives of the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Mashinostroitel sanatorium of the agricultural machinery manufacturer Gomselmash, the Gomel State University, the construction materials manufacturer Gomelstroymaterialy, and Agroponka Company.
The Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a business forum in Sarajevo on 20 December. Matters concerning bilateral cooperation in trade and economy were discussed during the forum. Spheres of mutual interest were determined. After negotiations agreements on cooperation were signed between the chambers of commerce and industry, between the Gomel State University and the International Burch University, between the Mashinostroitel sanatorium and the Bosnian travel agency BIH Passport.
Belarus' economic and investment potential was also presented in the city of Banja Luka on 21 December. During the presentation business circles of Gomel Oblast and Republika Srpska, the largest region of Bosnia and Herzegovina signed several documents on cooperation in trade, education, and tourism. Agreements were signed by the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Banja Luka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, by the Gomel State University and the Banja Luka University, by the Mashinostroitel sanatorium and the Tourist Board of Banja Luka, by Gomelstroymaterialy and the Croatian company BMD STIL.
During negotiations the sides spoke in favor of expanding trade and economic cooperation between regions of the two countries, particularly taking into account the sanctions enforced by the European Union and other countries against Belarus.
While in Bosnia and Herzegovina the Gomel Oblast delegation is also expected to meet with representatives of the Republika Srpska government.
