First unit of Belarusian nuclear power plant connected to power grid

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – The first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been reconnected to the power grid, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was connected to the power grid at 14:48 on 6 May after scheduled tasks specified by the pilot commercial operation stage program were finished. Specialists started comprehensive testing of the unit's equipment at the nominal level of power of the reactor installation. The comprehensive testing will last for 15 days.

The comprehensive testing will end the pilot commercial operation stage.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant featuring two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW is being built near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast.
