BREST, 21 December (BelTA) – The Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Brest has outlined a development strategy through 2030, Head of the FEZ Brest administration Vadim Kravchuk said as he commented on the President’s Address to the Belarusian people and the Parliament, BelTA has learned.
Speaking at the second meeting of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress, the head of state placed special emphasis on technological sovereignty. For enterprises, this serves as a signal to work on innovative projects and expand production. “The call to deepen our competencies translates into a strategy of intensively developing our existing production lines where we have substantial expertise and established expert communities. Undoubtedly, one of the main priorities is export growth. The FEZ Brest should not only remain a connecting link between the EAEU and the EU but also gain a foothold in the markets of the Global South,” Vadim Kravchuk noted.
The head of the FEZ Brest administration mentioned that a development strategy through 2030 had been developed. It identifies growth drivers: new import substitution and export diversification projects. “We have set a task to turn the FEZ into a center of economic growth of the Brest region,” Vadim Kravchuk said.
The FEZ Brest is home to 77 resident companies, including 43 with foreign capital. Investments in fixed capital are expected to reach about Br370 million by the end of 2025. Compared to 2024, enterprises have increased the output of import-substituting products by 3%. The export footprint spans 56 countries. In 2025, the company has entered the markets of Norway and Thailand and resumed shipments to Brazil. Exports to Russia are expanding rapidly. Deliveries to a number of Middle Eastern states, including Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, have increased significantly. Residents of the FEZ Brest are exploring partnerships in Africa, drawn by the substantial opportunities they see in this market. Some progress has already been made.
The 7th Belarusian People’s Congress approved the Social and Economic Development Program of Belarus for 2026-2030. “This is a project to modernize and renew all areas, based on our real capabilities and achievements. The program opens up new prospects for the FEZ Brest and each resident enterprise, and we will focus on putting them into practice,” Vadim Kravchuk concluded.
