EV consumption surges in Belarus in H1 2025

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) - Electricity consumption by electric vehicles in Belarus more than doubled in January-June 2025, Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz said during a meeting with the staff of the Belarusian State District Power Plant (BelGRES), a branch of the Vitebskenergo company, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry of Belarus.

Denis Moroz emphasized that electric transport represents a new and promising direction that has already become an integral part of Belarus' transport system. The country is witnessing rapid growth in electric vehicle usage, as supported by statistical data. Currently, more than 34,000 electric vehicles are registered in Belarus, with their number doubling annually. By the end of the year, the number of electric vehicles is expected to approach 50,000 units.

The strong demand for electric vehicles is driving the expansion of charging infrastructure, which now includes more than 1,700 stations nationwide. The growing number of charging stations is contributing to the continued increase in electricity consumption by electric vehicles. In H1 2025, this consumption more than doubled, reflecting robust growth in this segment of the market.
