Eurasian Economic Union considers restricting food export

MOSCOW, 31 March (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union is mulling over quantitative restrictions on the export of certain types of food, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina said at a briefing for the press in Moscow on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

"Discussion of the draft of the amendments to some resolutions of the EEC Board will continue until 18 April. The draft provides for quantitative restrictions on the export of certain types of agricultural products: wheat and meslin, barley, corn, sunflower oil and its fractions, and also white sugar and raw cane sugar,” Iya Malkina said. “These products are of priority importance for the food security of the union and play a significant role in price stability of the EAEU market."

"In addition, the draft provides for extending the list of goods that are essential for the domestic market of the Union with a new product - cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose in solid form," added Iya Malkina.
