EU shows interest in Belarus' energy-efficient home design

BREST, 10 April (BelTA) – The countries of the European Union are showing interest in the construction of 36-apartment energy-efficient housing to the design of the Belarusian large-panel house building plant Brestzhilstroi, BelTA learned from director of the plant Eduard Kononchuk.

This is the dwelling of enhanced comfort. A four-storey house has an elevator and a door-to-door recovery system, which includes air conditioning and air purification. The first such house in Brest is being built in Kolesnika street. The project is to be commissioned in August. The project has aroused interest among foreign customers. In particular, one of the Hungarian companies would like to build such houses in Budapest. Negotiations on cooperation are in progress.

Lithuanian partners in cooperation with Brest are considering the possibility of building energy-efficient homes in different European countries. The parties also cooperate on the two-storey house building project. Reinforced concrete structures for these houses are produced at the Brest plant.

“Together with Lithuanian partners, we have developed a house design that meets European standards. On 5 April, the first batch of reinforced concrete structures left Brest for Stockholm, Sweden. We see interest in this project from other European countries as well. Our representative in Lithuania is working out options of building one-storey houses. We are also considering options of manufacturing reinforced concrete products for residential dwelling with the use of clinker bricks on facades,” said Eduard Kononchuk.

Brestzhilstroi aims to diversify exports. The company has been successfully operating on the Russian market. The Brest plant has just completed the construction of two five-storey houses in the city of Gusev, Kaliningrad Oblast. Soon the Belarusian company will launch the construction of the third one. “This year we are eyeing the European market. In addition to construction projects, we cooperate with our partners in attracting our specialists to perform various types of construction work in Lithuania. We are also engaged in attestation of assembly work in that country to install our reinforced concrete products ourselves,” the director of the plant said.
