Embassy in Armenia reaffirms quality of Belarusian meat products

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – The Embassy of Belarus in Armenia has published an article on its website in response to recent publications in several Armenian mass media concerning the quality and origin of Belarusian meat products, BelTA has learned.

The article reads that Belarus has developed and maintains a proper system of state veterinary control of the safety of Belarusian meat products. Every meat-processing enterprise has been added to the list of enterprises, which procure, process (work with) unprocessed food raw materials of animal origin. Those, which export their products to other Eurasian Economic Union member state, have been added to the list of corporations and individuals, which produce, process and/or store products liable to control, which are transported from one Eurasian Economic Union member state to another Eurasian Economic Union member state. Apart from that, every Belarusian meat-processing enterprise has introduced HACCP quality and safety management systems or their work is organized on the basis of HACCP principles.

Every month Belarusian meat-processing enterprises are checked by state veterinary oversight specialists for compliance with national and Eurasian Economic Union veterinary and sanitary regulations. The enterprises, which supply raw materials to meat-processing enterprises, are checked at least twice a year.

The quality of products is checked by random sampling. Products are sampled without preliminary notifications. Producers have no idea when a state veterinary inspector may arrive, what products will be checked, and what parameters will be examined. Apart from that, the law requires that producers themselves should control the quality of their products.

The article also cites other arguments in favor of the high quality and safety of Belarusian meat products, including those exported to the Eurasian Economic Union market.

Thus, all the conditions have been created in Belarus for delivering good quality and safe meat products to other Eurasian Economic Union member states. The products pass scrupulous control procedures performed by the state and by the producer. The practice guarantees Belarusian origin and trackability of exports in line with the farm-to-table principle.
