EEC Council approves draft roadmap for common organic food market in EAEU

MOSCOW, 25 November (BelTA) - The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved the draft roadmap to develop a common market for organic agricultural products of the Eurasian Economic Union, BelTA learned from the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

“The measures outlined in the roadmap aim to remove obstacles to mutual trade by harmonizing the EAEU requirements for the production, certification and labeling of organic agricultural manufacture and organic products, taking into account the requirements of potential importing countries in the markets of the greatest export interest,” the EEC said.

“Our major goal is to harmonize the legislation within the union so that a certified organic producer can successfully sell it both in any of the EAEU countries and in third-country markets,” sad Artak Kamalyan, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The roadmap will be submitted to the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council for approval.
