MOSCOW, 22 December (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union and Uzbekistan have agreed to sign an agreement on the exchange of customs information, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
“Following the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, a decision was made to begin negotiations on concluding an agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union, its member states, and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the exchange of information on goods and vehicles for international transport moving across customs borders,” the EEC stated.
The agreement is designed to accelerate and simplify customs procedures while enhancing the efficacy of customs control. The exchange of information is projected to reduce discrepancies in foreign trade statistics, aid in the detection and prevention of violations, and strengthen mutual trust between the respective customs authorities.
The 2026 roadmap includes approving formal negotiating directives, forming a dedicated delegation, and commencing substantive talks with the Uzbek side.
