Call for faster legislation amendment in wake of Entrepreneurship Development Ordinance

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – It is necessary to accelerate the amendment of the effective legislation taking into account the Entrepreneurship Development Ordinance. Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich made the statement during the closing of the sixth session of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament on 28 June, BelTA has learned.

A lively discussion about a set of effective tools to develop the country's economy is in progress in the Council of Ministers. The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly has suggested to the government that in 2019 some headway should be made into the development of the main directions of Belarus' social and economic development for the period till 2025. It will allow the parliament to prepare the necessary bills in a timely manner. Mikhail Myasnikovich noted: “First of all, it is necessary to accelerate the amendment of legislation taking into account the Entrepreneurship Development Ordinance. It would be desirable to make the necessary amendments to the Administrative Violations Code and the Code of Execution Procedure for Administrative Violations during the autumn session.”

Apart from that, according to Mikhail Myasnikovich, it is necessary to step up efforts to improve norms of the laws on commercial companies, on insolvency and bankruptcy, on state regulation of trade and public catering. Bills on state organizations and on power engineering remain topical, Mikhail Myasnikovich added. The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus would like to receive proposals of the Council of Ministers on these bills in 2019.

Summing up results of the sixth session, the head of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament noted that in this period the senators approved 58 bills, including 36 bills on ratifying international agreements. Three presidential ordinances were noted. Work on amending the law on copyright and allied rights was finished. A new revision of the Housing Code was passed. Serious work is being done to adjust the Civil Code taking into account domestic and foreign experience. The efforts are supposed to make Belarus attractive for investments and doing business.
