Belarusian Railways to transport more automobile parts from Europe to Russia

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Belarusian Railways presented its transit potential at the international logistics, telematics, and transport expo Transport Logistic in Munich. The Belarusian railway administration also signed a trilateral agreement with PAO TransContainer and DB Cargo Logistics GmbH. The agreement is designed to further step up the transportation of automobile parts from Europe to Russia, the Belarusian Railways press service told BelTA.

First Deputy Head of Belarusian Railways Igor Shilov signed the agreement on behalf of the Belarusian railway administration. The agreement outlines further avenues of cooperation in transporting components for assembling automobiles at factories in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod. The companies intend to reach new heights in cooperation in providing comprehensive logistics service.

The press service noted that for the last few years Belarusian Railways has been cooperating fruitfully with transport companies and business communities of Germany. In particular, as part of a Volkswagen project in January-April 2019 the volume of automobile parts transported from Europe to Russia in transit via Belarus increased by 20% in comparison with the same period of last year to exceed 20,000 containers.

The Transport Logistic 2019 expo took place in Munich on 4-7 June.
