MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin met with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi in Minsk on 8 May to discuss simplifying trade between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the UAE, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

Aleksandr Turchin noted that at the upcoming EAEU summit, due to be held in Belarus in late June, an economic partnership agreement will be signed between the EAEU and the UAE to create a full-fledged free trade zone. "We are also interested in signing an intergovernmental agreement on trade in services and investments between Belarus and the UAE," he emphasized.

Addressing the UAE minister, Aleksandr Turchin added that his first visit to Belarus coincided with a significant event: the opening of the Minsk International Exhibition Center. "I was involved in the creation of this project during the visit of the former crown prince in 2019. We were launching the large-scale Northern Waterfront project. This project is very important to us: it is one of the landmark projects carried out by foreign investors in our country," the prime minister said.

He expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership and the company that is investing substantial funds in Belarus. "This project attracts other countries that, seeing how you invest in our country, also seek to come and invest their resources," Aleksandr Turchin remarked.

The construction of the center in Minsk started in 2022 and was carried out as part of the investment project for the construction of the Northern Waterfront multi-purpose complex, designed for the implementation in 2021-2040. The investor is Riverside Development Holdings Limited, a private company from the UAE.
