ROSTOV-ON-DON, 27 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian agricultural machinery manufacturer Gomselmash intends to promote partnership with the Russian company Rostselmash, BelTA learned from Gomselmash Director General Vitaly Sheleg on 27 November.
A Belarusian delegation led by Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi is in Rostov-on-Don today. The trip focuses on the economic agenda, cooperation of Belarusian and Russian industrial enterprises. An important item on the delegation’s itinerary is a visit to Rostselmash. The Belarusian delegation has been to the factory that makes transmission gearboxes and axles, a harvester factory, and a tractor factory.
Rostselmash Company works with over 50 Belarusian enterprises. Joint import substitution work has been established. Over five years Belarus shipped over RUB8 billion worth of parts and components to the Russian company. Shipments to Belarus are in progress as well, the Russian company is interested in increasing the volume.
The head of the Belarus President Administration recalled that three years ago thanks to a political decision made by the heads of state manufacturing cooperation between Gomselmash and Rostselmash was established within several weeks. “A large delegation from Rostov Oblast visited Belarus not so long ago. The oblast governor met with the president. The head of state told me that our delegation should definitely visit Rostselmash. Our president believes that cooperation should grow larger,” Dmitry Krutoi stressed. “Apart from that, considering you now have a large tractor segment, more active cooperation with [the Belarusian tractor manufacturer] MTZ may be necessary.”
Belarusian Gomselmash is intent on developing the strategic partnership with Russian Rostselmash. “We have an integration project within the framework of the Union State [of Belarus and Russia]. We have been implementing an investment business plan. Facilities have been created for the sake of this project in order to make parts not only for Belarusian harvesters but also for Rostselmash. If necessary, we are ready to begin making these products. We have previous agreements but right now they are slightly on pause. Today I’d like to raise this matter at the meeting and discuss future perspectives. We hope we will ship components to Rostselmash’s assembly lines next year. The entire infrastructure is ready. We just need to hit the play button,” Gomselmash Director General Vitaly Sheleg said.
He drew attention to the fact that the demand for harvesters is falling on the Russian market. “On the whole, the situation is complicated but manageable. In the long run we expect to see growth. The cooling down of our business segment cannot last long. The business has changed a bit. In the past clients came to us. Now we have to work with clients not only via the dealership chain but also directly. During the meeting with Rostselmash it is interesting to hear their evaluation of the state of our business as a whole, how they are going to overcome complicated things, how the year 2025 will end and how 2026 will begin,” the Gomselmash CEO outlined.
Rostov Oblast Deputy Minister of Industry and Power Engineering Viktor Kvasnikov stressed that the capacity and the demand of the Russian market for agricultural machines are high. “But taking into account capabilities of agricultural manufacturers we see pent-up demand right now. All the state support measures are aimed at renewing this demand among Russian agricultural producers. As for manufacturing cooperation with Belarusian enterprises, they supply components to Rostselmash, these ties have evolved historically. The share of Belarusian components in Rostselmash’s procurement is rather high,” he said.
Rostov Oblast Minister of Economic Development Pavel Pavlov also emphasized the deferred demand in the manufacturing sector. He noted that preparations should be made for when the market resumes growth. “We have the Union State [of Belarus and Russia]. We need to work together. We are strong in agriculture, in manufacturing sector. Our enterprises, including Gomselmash and Rostselmash, are looking for a common ground, for contact points in order to jointly resist the pressure of other countries on this market. Because the market has very tough competition. It is easier to conquer it together. We also maintain interaction in tractor manufacturing,” Pavel Pavlov pointed out.
Aleksei Shveitsov, First Deputy Director General, Director of the Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales Service Center of Rostselmash Company, shared plans regarding the promotion of partnership with Belarusian enterprises. “We’ve decided to share experience and opportunities for joint manufacturing. Design engineers, technology services, the procurement and acquisition service are now involved in this work. We expect maximum development of joint manufacturing with regard to design products and innovations. We know that Belarus has its own highly technological base. We have something to work on together,” he said. Apart from that, Rostselmash is interested in selling to Belarus a lineup of high-performance harvesters and tractors that are not manufactured in Belarus.
Rostselmash is one of the largest designers and manufacturers of specialized vehicles and machines. The company has its own innovation center, an experimental base, and modern manufacturing facilities with a full manufacturing cycle.
Under its own brand Rostselmash makes a broad range of machines, vehicles, and equipment for agricultural operations starting with soil cultivation and ending with initial grain processing.
