Belarusian FM suggests developing 20-30 good projects to pitch to foreign investors.

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Foreign investment attraction is as important as export growth, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said during a meeting between the Belarusian president and heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices in Minsk on 31 July, BelTA learned.

“The experience of major economies demonstrates that we need $4-5 billion in annual foreign direct investment in our economy. Yet our current inflows are three times lower,” the minister said.

He noted that nations like the UAE, Qatar, and Oman are ready to invest in Belarus.

Yet the minister emphasized: 'At face value, we’re flooded with investment proposals, from district-level to sector-wide initiatives. We get dozens, if not hundreds of them. But when we scrutinize them closely, there’s nothing that would truly engage potential business partners. During my visits, I am told directly: ‘Give us viable proposals’.”

Maksim Ryzhenkov suggested developing a portfolio of 20-30 good projects that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could pitch to potential investors.
