Belarusian farmers gather in over 40% of outdoor vegetables

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – Belarusian farmers have gathered in over 40% of the vegetables grown outdoors, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

A total of 64,000 tonnes of vegetables grown outdoors have been gathered in. The area under the crops makes up over 8,000 hectares. As much as 43% of the area has been harvested.

As much as 343,000 tonnes of potatoes has been harvested. The average yield exceeds last year’s by 18.1 centners per hectare. Sugar beet has been harvested from 34% of the area under the crop or from 34,000 hectares. As much as 1.642 million tonnes of sugar beet has been harvested, with the yield exceeding last year’s by 26.6 centners per hectare.

According to the latest data available as of 26 September, 9.025 million tonnes of grain including rapeseed has been harvested from Belarusian fields.

Cereals and leguminous crops excluding maize have been harvested from 99% of the area under these crops or from 2.407 million hectares. The average yield is above last year’s by 8.2 centners per hectare. Some 675,000 tonnes of food grain has been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 96% of the target.

Winter rapeseed for grain production has been sown on 913,000 hectares or 61% of the target.

As much as 119,000 tonnes of flax straw has been harvested, with the yield above last year’s by 11.3 centners per hectare.

Maize for silage and green fodder has been harvested from 39% of the area under the crop or 371,000 hectares.

Belarusian farmers have harvested 527,000 tonnes of hay (73% of the target), 13.603 million tonnes of haylage (98% of the target), 8.460 million tonnes of silage (41% of the target), and 6.405 million tonnes of grass fodder (64% of the target).
