MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – It is essential that we expand the product range by introducing new modern equipment and upgrading enterprises, the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich told the media, BelTA has learned.
When asked about how much time he will need to settle in his new job, Viktor Karankevich stated: “Little. I need to get up to speed in all areas and sectors that are in my remit. First of all, it's the manufacturing sector, the measures that are already underway, the investment projects, the achievement of production targets.”
The deputy prime minister also underlined: "The most important thing is the quality of manufactured products, expansion of product line-ups through the introduction of new modern equipment, modernization of enterprises and creation of new manufactures. Special attention will be paid to the manufacture of import-substituting products, which will be in demand both in the domestic and international markets."
"The energy sector will be still prioritized," he said. “We will improve the reliability of the energy system. Following the recent storms, we have worked out measures and approaches that will be further implemented.”
Viktor Karankevich also noted that he has a rich experience of negotiations with Russian partners and it would prove useful in his new job.
