
MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - The first tonne of dried apricots was bought by a well-known confectionery manufacturer from Mogilev Oblast that has already purchased skim milk powder, potato starch, corn flour, pumpkin seeds and nuts, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).
In general, the range of raw materials and ingredients purchased by enterprises of the confectionery industry at the exchange platform continues to expand and today features about 140 commodity names, almost a third more than last year.
“All major confectionery factories of the country are represented on the exchange, however, they participate in the trades mainly in the role of buyers. Based on the structure of transactions in Q1 2025, the most popular goods included food flavorings, deodorized sunflower oil, palm olein, cocoa powder, soy protein isolate, wheat gluten and sunflower kernels," the press service said. “We can say that this section is gaining momentum very rapidly, and the line-up is continuously growing.”
Thus, in 2025 the Belarusian commodity exchange saw the first deals to purchase frozen cherries and strawberries, dried mushrooms, spinach, tomato paste, pectin and pumpkin seeds.
According to the BUCE, in January-April 2025 food raw materials were sold at exchange trading for a total amount of Br28 million, which as twice as much as in the same period of 2024. The most active participants were meat and milk processing enterprises, and bakeries.
