Belarusian-Chinese BelGee eager to make 25,000 cars in 2019

BORISOV DISTRICT, 8 November (BelTA) – SZAO BelGee intends to make 25,000 cars in 2019, BelTA learned from the company's Acting Director General Gennady Svidersky on 8 November.

The executive said: “After analyzing the market we've put together a business plan. It has yet to receive the final approval but we set out to make 25,000 automobiles in 2019. We offer two crossovers and one sedan. All the three models have been tested and presented. Apart from that, we've finished testing a turbocharged crossover, which, we hope, will sell well in Belarus and Russia. We intend to sell 7,000 cars in Belarus and export the rest. The bulk of it will go to Russia. We hope that next year we will start working with other nearby countries. Negotiations have been held with Moldova, Ukraine, and Lithuania. We have plans for negotiations with Poland.”

BelGee makes 60 cars per shift and intends to raise the figure to 70 in November-December. “We intend to reach the full designed capacity of 120 cars per shift some time in early Q2 2019. We would like to hire and train additional workforce in 2020 in order to work in two shifts,” noted Gennady Svidersky. “In order to make 120 cars per shift, we need extra 250 workers. In order to switch to two-shift manufacturing we are going to need about 500 people extra.”

BelGee's production localization rate has reached 50%. “We are working on localizing the production of more components, for instance, noise insulation components, brake pads, generators,” added Gennady Svidersky.

In January-September 2018 the company made over 5,400 cars.
