Belarus to showcase woodworking industry at Polish fair

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarusian enterprises will display their products at a collective stand at the International Trade Fair of Machines and Tools for Wood and Furniture Industries DREMA 2019 due in the Poznan Congress Center in Poland on 10-13 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom.

“Poland is one of the main markets for Belarusian woodworking enterprises, it is second only to Russia in terms of sales. In 2018, enterprises affiliated with Bellesbumprom exported $82.4 million worth of products to Poland, up 32% over 2017. In 2019, export has declined a bit, but this has only encouraged Belarusian manufacturers to give a new impetus to cooperation with Polish partners,” the press service noted.

The fair will showcase the most advanced technologies in woodworking and furniture industries. DREMA 2019 will draw over 500 exhibitors. The International Trade Fair of Components for Furniture Production FURNICA and the International Trade Fair of Upholstery Fabrics and Components for Upholstered Furniture SoFab will run alongside DREMA 2019 to attract even more visitors to the expo.

Moreover, the Belarusian-Polish economic forum will take place on the sidelines of the fair. The forum will focus on trade and economic cooperation in the forest and furniture industries. The Belarusian delegation will include representatives of the Bellesbumprom concern, the Belarusian Forestry Ministry, the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Industry Enterprises, administrations of free economic zones of Vitebsk Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Mogilev Oblast, and a lot of Belarusian enterprises.

Participants of the forum intend to discuss important matters of the woodworking industry of Belarus and Poland, mutual trade in forest products, protection of forest resources, and production of environmentally friendly paper wrapping. The forum will include a panel session on relevant matters of manufacturing and marketing of woodworking industry products, B2B talks with leading Polish woodworking companies which produce slab and lumber products, wooden houses, glued laminated timber, furniture, and so on. The Bellesbumprom press service noted that Belarusian enterprises intend to establish new contacts and reach agreements on increasing mutual trade.

The forum will be organized by the Belarusian embassy in Poland in association with the Polish Economic Chamber of Wood Industry.
