MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - Belarus has approved a five-year development program (2026-2030) for its pulp, paper, woodworking, and furniture sectors, Bellesbumprom told BelTA following a meeting of its council.
The key priorities for development have been defined as the deep and complex processing of timber into high value-added products.
“The implementation of the industry’s development priorities is planned to be achieved through the execution of specific measures and tasks,” Bellesbumprom Deputy Chairman Sergei Kasyanov said. “One of the primary tasks is the implementation of promising investment projects to create new, modern production facilities focused on manufacturing innovative and import-substituting products.”
In particular, the implementation of 45 key investment projects is planned within the industry, 18 of which will be undertaken by Bellesbumprom’s organizations. Furthermore, the program will contribute to the development and creation of new productions and technologies in related industrial sectors.
The Belarusian development program for the pulp and paper, woodworking, and furniture industries for 2026-2030 is based on the principles and approaches laid out in the Belarusian Strategy for the Development of the Pulp and Paper, Woodworking, and Furniture Industries until 2035, which was approved at a meeting of Bellesbumprom’s council in November 2024.
The meeting, chaired by Aleksandr Pshenny, was attended by Bellesbumprom’s staff, industry enterprise managers, and the deputy chairperson of the Belarusian Trade Union of Forestry and Nature Management Workers. The meeting reviewed the social and economic results for the first nine months of the year and plans for supplying enterprises with round timber in 2025 and 2026. The performance of managers and the measures implemented to meet set targets were also evaluated.
Attention was also paid to the fulfillment of state orders and the utilization of the leased forest fund, the implementation of Directive No. 1 “On Measures to Strengthen Public Safety and Discipline”, the work of the concern's own distribution network entities abroad, and other matters.
Bellesbumprom Chairman Aleksandr Pshenny emphasized the need to ensure efficiency at every production site and in every workshop, as well as balanced growth in production volume, which should not be accompanied by an increase in warehouse stocks. The implementation of investment projects was also discussed.
“It is necessary to begin implementing investment projects that are at the business idea stage as early as possible. The priority is the deep and complex processing of timber into high value-added products,” said Aleksandr Pshenny.
