Belarus, Sudan discuss energy projects, extraction of natural resources

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – The implementation of projects concerning energy industry and the extraction of natural resources was discussed as Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt with concurrent accreditation to Sudan Sergei Rachkov visited Sudan on 3-6 March, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The ambassador met with Sudanese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilham Ibrahim. A broad range of topics concerning bilateral cooperation was discussed including the implementation of agreements reached during previous top-level visits and the organization of political consultations. The sides exchanged opinions about certain items on the regional agenda and the international one.

The Belarusian ambassador also met with a deputy minister of oil and mineral resources. Problems in implementing Belarusian-Sudanese joint projects in the area of extraction of mineral resources, oil, and gas, energy industry were discussed. The sides also talked about preparations for the next session of the Belarus-Sudan intergovernmental cooperation commission.

Shipments of Belarusian trucks, road construction machines, and passenger vehicles to the State of Khartoum were discussed as the ambassador met with Governor of the State of Khartoum Hashim Osman.

The ambassador also attended the opening ceremony of the Belarusian exposition during the international agriculture, food, and packaging technologies expo Sudan Agrofood + Packaging. The ambassador also took part in a meeting of representatives of Belarusian and Sudanese business circles. It was the first time a Belarusian exposition had been arranged as part of the expo. Products made by more than ten Belarusian companies were represented, including MTZ, MAZ, Gomselmash, Amkodor, Belshina, Spartak, Minsk Margarine Plant, and Slodych.
