Belarus signs cooperation agreements with three Russian regions

ST PETERSBURG, 18 July (BelTA) – A package of cooperation agreements in trade, economy, science and technology, culture and social matters has been signed between the government of Belarus and the governments of Ingushetia and Saratov Oblast and the administration of Smolensk Oblast at a plenary session of the 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.

On behalf of Belarus the agreements were signed by Deputy Premier Igor Petrishenko.

Apart from that, sci-tech cooperation agreements were signed between the academies of sciences of the two states, Saint Petersburg Mining University, the International Center for Mining Technology Education Competence and BelAZ.

Speaking at the plenary session Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko noted that these agreements, in particular, those in science and education, open up great prospects for the two states. She called them highly relevant. She expressed confidence that if Belarus and Russia join their efforts, they have everything in place to take leading positions in innovative industries.
