Belarus seeks to supply dairy products to Myanmar via commodity exchange

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) - Belarus plans to supply dairy products to Myanmar via the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the BUCE press service told BelTA.

Powdered milk, cream, and whey may become the major product categories exported to Myanmar via BUCE. This was stated by Head of the BUCE Foreign Economic Activity Department Yaroslav Kovalchuk as he spoke at the Belarus-Myanmar business forum in Yangon. According to him, dairy products are currently purchased at the exchange by companies from more than 40 countries worldwide, with transaction volumes steadily increasing, which is evidence of the high liquidity and strong demand for these products abroad.

“As of today, the value of exchange transactions for dairy exports reached $82 million, which was 12% higher than in January-November last year. The largest sales volumes were to countries such as Russia, Poland, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Singapore. Overall, companies from 42 countries, including Southeast Asia, acted as buyers of dairy products at the exchange. For Belarusian dairy enterprises, this region is of particular interest due to the significant market capacity and strong purchasing power. Therefore, the exchange is ready to provide maximum support to Myanmar companies considering imports of powdered milk, cream, and whey from Belarus. All producers of these products are represented on the exchange platform, which ensures regular supplies without any volume restrictions,” Yaroslav Kovalchuk noted.

Currently, BUCE has accredited business entities from five Southeast Asian countries: Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Singapore. Singaporean companies are especially active users of the exchange platform. In January-November 2025, the value of their transactions for purchasing Belarusian goods totaled $42.4 million, which was 58% higher year-on-year. Dairy products accounted for 54% of their imports from Belarus.
