ALGIERS, 2 December (BelTA) – Belarus is actively exploring the Algerian pharmaceutical market for potential cooperation opportunities, Director General of the Belpharmprom Holding Company Igor Mitrofanov told journalists on the sidelines of a business forum in Algiers, BelTA reports.
“These are the initial steps to build a foundation; these are our first contacts. More meetings are planned as part of the forum, but for us the market remains quite complex and, perhaps, not entirely understandable. Therefore, during these discussions we are gathering information on how the Algerian pharmaceutical sector functions,” said the director general. “It is a fairly developed market with a large number of domestic [Algerian] manufacturers. That is why it is crucial to understand its internal workings: how tenders are held and how the Algerian population is supplied with medications.”
Igor Mitrofanov noted that Algeria places significant emphasis on developing its own pharmaceutical industry. A dedicated Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry has recently been established to regulate this market.
