Belarus, Russia’s Ryazan Oblast set to expand cooperation in exchange trade

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia’s Ryazan Oblast plan to expand cooperation in exchange trade. These issues were on the agenda of the forum Ryazan-Belarus: Reliable Partnership. Cooperation Program 2025-2028, which was held in Ryazan, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

The event was held as part of the visit of the Belarusian business delegation led by Belgospishcheprom Deputy Chairman Aleksandr Yakovchits to Ryazan Oblast.

During the panel discussion the Ryazan Oblast business community was presented the opportunities of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) to improve the efficiency of sales and procurement activities of economic entities, reduce foreign trade risks and search for new partners abroad. A number of examples was provided to demonstrate the advantages and features of using the exchange platform as an alternative to the traditional commodity distribution network.

In particular, Ryazan companies supplied transformer oil and malting barley to Belarus via BUCE. In 2024, the total amount of exchange transactions in these commodity positions amounted to $8.4 million. Non-ferrous metal waste, meat products and leather raw materials prevailed in imports from Belarus with a total volume of $0.3 million. In Q1 2025, the structure of exchange trade between Belarus and Ryazan Oblast did not change significantly. The only new position is wheat, which Ryazan agricultural producers began to sell to Belarusian participants of exchange trading.

In order to ensure the widest possible participation of Ryazan entrepreneurs in trading on the Belarusian exchange platform plans are in place to combine the efforts of BUCE and the regional chamber of commerce and industry in terms of organizing joint events aimed at popularizing exchange instruments among the business community of Ryazan and Ryazan Oblast. In addition, agreements have been reached on cooperation with the Ryazan export center for small and medium-sized enterprises, which serves as a single window for providing non-financial support to export-oriented enterprises in the region.

In 2025, three new companies from Ryazan Oblast were accredited to BUCE, and in general, this region is represented by 37 economic entities.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
