Belarus, Russia urged to harmonize economic development strategies

ST PETERSBURG, 17 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia should harmonize their economic development strategies in order to be able to respond to challenges, Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Rakhmanov said at a session of the inter-parliamentary commission for interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic and Russia's Federation Council on 17 July, BelTA has learned.

“Indeed, there are many tasks we need to fulfill. We have done a lot, but we still have to do a lot more. First of all, this pertains to the threats we are facing in economy and technology. Here we need to seriously reconcile our development strategies in economy and technology,” Sergei Rakhmanov said.

He believes that the two countries should promote cooperation by setting up various industry clusters. “We are cooperating, but we need to scale up cooperation efforts,” he said.
