Belarus, Russia implement 25 import-substituting projects in key economy sectors

MOSCOW, 6 June (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are implementing 25 import-substituting projects in key sectors of the economy, Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said at the roundtable “The Union State: 25 years of integration - results and new challenges” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Russia are implementing 25 joint integration import-substituting projects in key and high-tech sectors of the economy. Another 10 are in the pipeline,” the minister said.

According to him, the share of the two countries in the total imports of each other has increased over the past three years. “This indicates an increase in mutual supplies and interests,” Yuri Chebotar stated.

The minister also reported on the growth of Russian and Belarusian investments in each other's economies. More than 2,000 joint ventures and organizations with Belarusian and Russian shares operate in the common market of Belarus and Russia. "This is important. This creates the foundation for trade today and in the future," Yuri Chebotar said.
