Belarus, Romania review economic, interregional cooperation

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Romania Andrei Grinkevich met with Feodor Afanasov, Member of the Board of the Financial Business Association for Euro-Asian Cooperation (FBA EAC), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Romania.

The Belarusian diplomat briefed Feodor Afanasov on the export potential of Belarus, focusing on high competitiveness of a wide range of Belarusian products, tourism and services in the Romanian market. Consideration was given to specific areas for developing the Belarusian-Romanian trade, economic and interregional cooperation. Issues of further strengthening ties between the Old Believers of Belarus and Romania, including joint projects, were also raised during the meeting. There is documentary evidence that some settlements of Old Believers living in Romania were founded by their ancestors hailing from Belarus. The parties reaffirmed commitment to cooperation in providing assistance to Belarusian citizens in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

The Financial Business Association of Euro-Asian Cooperation (FBA EAC) is a public non-governmental organization founded in 2013. The founders of FBA EAC are the Association of Banks of Russia, the Association of Banks of Kazakhstan, the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan, the Association of Banks of Tajikistan, the Business Club of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the CIS Financial and Banking Council and the Eurasia Financial Corporation.
