MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Spring sowing must be carried out at the optimal time and in compliance with all the rules, Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting to discuss a number of issues related to the agricultural industry, BelTA has learned.

“Sowing is in full swing now. All in all, the level of equipment readiness is high, but malfunctions occur and some equipment units are not operational. As a rule, these problems are common for poorly performing farms. But this should not be an excuse,” said Roman Golovchenko.

The prime minister emphasized that spring sowing must be carried out within the optimal time frame and in compliance with all the rules. Fundamental decisions were taken by the head of state and government in advance, including decisions on the financing of these works. “That said, the government is receiving requests from individual regions for additional financing to buy fertilizers and equipment for insolvent organizations, and so on. Today we will consider this,” he noted.

According to Roman Golovchenko, the tasks voiced by the head of state at yesterday’s large-scale meeting on agriculture are not new. “I repeat once again: a number of these tasks were put forward quite a long time ago. The question is how we approach their implementation, what we really should do to achieve the required results,” the head of government emphasized.
