MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – Belarus more than tripled its exchange exports of meat and meat products in 2025, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).
According to BUCE, in 2025 Belarusian meat-processing enterprises sold 53,000 tonnes of meat and meat products at export exchange auctions, which was 3.2 times more than in 2024. Buyers of Belarusian meat products on the exchange platform included representatives from six countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan.
“Last year the pool of importers of domestic meat products using the exchange mechanism expanded significantly. If in 2024 exchange deals were concluded by 80 companies from three countries, then in 2025 – by 123 companies from six countries. The number of Belarusian sellers also grew noticeably: from 33 in 2024 to 46 in 2025. The largest sales volumes went to Russia, Uzbekistan, and China. Frozen and chilled beef (cuts, blocks of trimmed meat, and deboned meat) were in particularly high demand among foreign buyers,” the BUCE press service reported.
It was also noted that the high level of competition at exchange auctions contributed to an increase in export prices for Belarusian meat products by an average of 5-7%, and for the most sought-after items – up to 30%.
“Up to seven foreign buyers competed for individual lots during trading sessions, which led to a significant rise in the value of meat products and allowed Belarusian exporters to earn additional revenue. Overall, throughout last year the exchange platform saw a steady upward price trend for meat, endocrine-enzyme raw materials, and meat semi‑finished products, fully in line with global trends,” the press service said.
Trading sessions for meat products intended for foreign markets are held at BUCE three times a week. The auctions feature blocks of trimmed meat, deboned (boneless) meat, cuts, by-products, rendered animal fats, meat semi-finished products, and endocrine-enzyme raw materials.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
