BAKU, 5 May (BelTA) – The Mogilevliftmash elevator assembly plant has been officially opened in Azerbaijan with the participation of Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin who is currently in Azerbaijan on an official visit, BelTA has learned.
The prime minister of Belarus was shown the company's production facilities and elevator models which will be assembled in Azerbaijan. The total area of production in Baku is 1.2 hectares and includes two production facilities of 500 m2 and 1,800 m2.
Deputy Director General for Commercial Affairs at Mogilevliftmash Anton Belsky said that parts and units that would be used in the assembly of elevators had already been worked out and were being manufactured by the company's specialists in Baku. “They will be part of elevators, which will be installed to replace those that have already worked out their service life,” he said.
According to the deputy director general, Azerbaijan needs to replace a large number of elevators - about 3,000 elevators in Baku alone. “Given the amount of funding possible at the moment, we are going to replace 200 elevators. This is the whole set of works, including manufacturing, supply, dismantling, installation and commissioning of new elevators. Another 60 elevators are set to be supplied to the city of Aghdam as part of new construction projects. In total, we plan to produce and sell 260 elevators this year,” he said.
The elevators will be fully assembled at this production facility in Baku. The main model, which will be produced to replace the old ones, is an elevator with a lifting capacity of 400kg with a machine room and a lifting speed of 1 m/s and 1.6 m/s. The new construction projects will use 630kg and 1,000kg capacity models with and without machine rooms. “New assembly kits will be supplied specifically for each elevator model,” Anton Belsky explained.
Today Mogilevliftmash is working on the production of high-speed elevators. “Now we produce elevators with a speed of 2.5 m/s, but our partner here in Azerbaijan has a great experience of supplying elevators with the speed of not only 2.5 m/s, but also has a certificate for elevators with the speed of up to 3 m/s. There is also work on elevators with the speed of 4 m/s and more,” he said, emphasizing that this could be a promising area for the development of cooperation between the two countries.
The elevator assembly production Vertus Engineering Co. Ltd. was opened in 2022. Two years later, Mogilevliftmash and the company signed an agreement on the establishment of assembly production in Azerbaijan. The country organized the manufacture of individual parts and components for elevators on the premises of the Azerbaijani enterprise, as well as the purchase of some imported components for the assembly of the finished elevator on the basis of the Mogilevliftmash set. Now the company will be engaged in full-fledged assembly of elevators.
