
MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) - Some 9.4 million tonnes of grain has been threshed in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“As of 8 October, some 9,388,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, were cropped in Belarus,” the press service informed.
The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast - 2.326 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 1.821 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 1.811 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 1.289 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 1.121 million tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 1.020 million tonnes.
Some 685,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 98% of the target.
Winter grains for grain have been planted across 1,367,000 hectares, 91% of the plan.
Belarus has harvested over 160,000 tonnes, with average yields being 12.1 centners per hectare higher than last year.
Maize for silage and green fodder has been harvested from 60% of the area, which is 613,000 hectares.
So far Belarus has harvested 558,000 tonnes of hay (77% of the plan); 13.671 million tonnes of haylage (98% of the plan); 13.269 million tonnes of silage (64% of the plan); 7.784 million tonnes of grass forage units (77% of the plan)
Sugar beet has been harvested from 47% of the area, which amounts to 51,000 hectares. The harvest has yielded 2.493 million tonnes of sugar beet.
Some 542,000 tonnes of potatoes have already been harvested, with the average yield making up 3.2 centners per hectare above last year.
Nationwide, 101,000 tonnes of open-field vegetables have been harvested. The total sown area exceeds 8,000 hectares, with 60% of it cropped now.
