Belarus' FDI draft strategy up for discussion at Legal Forum website

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – The draft resolution of Belarus' Council of Ministers on foreign direct investment attraction strategy through 2025 can be submitted for discussion at the Legal Forum website, BelTA has learned.

The strategy describes the Belarus' investment policies over the past ten years, assesses the global FDI trends and the country's investment environment as evaluated by the international rating agencies.

The draft strategy describes the opportunities offered by the Investor's Roadmap Interactive online project alongside the priority areas for investment. Among them are the hi-tech, energy-efficient, knowledge-based, export-oriented and import-substituting industries with high added value, the financial, industrial and energy sectors, agriculture and also logistics, transport and social infrastructure.

The key measures to improve the investment environment include improving the legislation in government property, corporate governance and construction, providing transparent and straightforward business conditions, facilitating access to financial resources, maintaining and improving the favorable tax regime, encouraging capital flows from multinational companies and corporations, ensuring competitive conditions for attracting investors from the Eurasian Economic Union, etc.

The adoption of the draft strategy will determine the long-term goals, tasks, guidelines, fields of activity and the anticipated results of attracting foreign investment in accordance with the priorities of Belarus' social and economic development to ensure a sustainable growth of the national economy.
