MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – As of 1 April 2022 Belarus' external state debt totaled $17.8 billion, down by $0.5 billion or 2.6% since the beginning of the year (taking into account differences in currency exchange rates), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Finance Ministry.
In January-March 2022 the Belarusian government borrowed the equivalent of $201.8 million abroad and spent $435.5 million to repay the external state debt.
As of 1 April 2022 Belarus' state debt totaled Br65.9 billion, up by Br7.7 billion or 13.1% since the beginning of the year.
The internal state debt amounted to Br13.1 billion as of 1 April. Taking into account differences in currency exchange rates, the internal state debt rose by Br1.3 billion or 10.9% since the beginning of the year.
In January-March 2021 the Belarusian government did not sell any domestic government bonds and redeemed $95.1 million worth of government bonds nominated in foreign currencies from corporations and individuals.
