Belarus expects joint ventures to be established in India soon to make agricultural machines

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Belarus highly appreciates the open and friendly nature of Belarusian-Indian cooperation. Belarusian Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev mentioned it on 26 January at a festive event marking India’s national holiday – Republic Day, BelTA has learned.

“In the last few years our countries have been able to get a lot closer in political, economic, educational, and cultural terms through joint efforts,” the minister said.

In his words, an effective mechanism for coordinating the bilateral relations is the Belarusian-Indian intergovernmental commission on cooperation in economy, trade, industry, science, technology, and culture. Its next session, the 12th session is expected to be held soon.

“Relations between the business communities of the two countries are growing stronger,” the healthcare minister noted. “Trade between Belarus and India reached record high levels last year. However, as the president of the Republic of Belarus noted during his meeting with the Indian ambassador in November 2025, our potential is significantly larger. We should use all opportunities to ensure that, in the interests of both nations, our countries continue dynamically expanding trade, investment, and technological cooperation in various sectors."

“For many years Belarus has been directly involved in strengthening India’s food security, traditionally supplying fertilizers on a continuous basis,” he continued. “We look forward to the establishment of joint ventures soon to produce agricultural machines and vehicles that are in demand in South Asian markets.”
