Belarus eager to increase supplies of farm machines, elevators to Russia’s Yaroslavl Oblast

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) - Belarus is eager to supply various types of machinery and elevators to Yaroslavl Oblast, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said during a meeting with Governor of Russia’s Yaroslavl Oblast Mikhail Yevrayev in Minsk on 24 November, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus views Yaroslavl Oblast as a reliable trade and economic partner. Over the past five years, mutual trade has increased by 1.7 times and reached a record high of $370 million in 2024. This result was made possible, among other things, thanks to the program for the development of bilateral cooperation between the governments of Belarus and Yaroslavl Oblast for 2024-2025. To maintain such a positive trend, it is necessary to continue creating favorable conditions for expanding interaction, especially since the potential for this is far from being exhausted. We still have many areas for growth,” Viktor Karankevich said.

He named manufacturing as one of the key areas of cooperation. “Strong, long-term ties have been established between Belarusian and Yaroslavl manufacturers. Examples include the joint work of BATE and Borisov Plant of Units with Avtodizel, Gomselmash with Tutaev Motor Plant, and BMZ with Kordiant. During today’s meeting, we would like to discuss in detail possible cooperation related to upgrading the fleet of passenger transport in Yaroslavl Oblast with modern models produced by Belarusian plants MAZ and Belkommunmash. This concerns buses, trolleybuses, and trams. We already have experience of cooperation in this area,” the deputy prime minister noted.

Belarus is also keen on expanding cooperation in terms of supply of agricultural and freight vehicles, road construction machinery, and elevators that are in demand in Yaroslavl Oblast. “These are the well-known brands MAZ, Gomselmash, MTZ, Amkodor, and Mogilevliftmash that guarantee modern, high-quality maintenance service,” Viktor Karankevich emphasized.

He also highlighted machine tool building. Belarusian machine tool plants have successful experience working in Yaroslavl Oblast and are interested in continuing their participation in the upgrade programs in the Russian region through the supply, modernization, and maintenance of high-tech machine tools.

In the field of agriculture, Belarus possesses modern developments in crop production, livestock farming, and agricultural mechanization and is ready to share them with Yaroslavl Oblast. Belarus is also prepared to present projects for dairy farms, including equipment and technologies. The country also has experience in supplying equipment for land reclamation work.

“We see projects in housing, utilities and construction as a tangible opportunity to deepen our interaction in the coming years. We are ready to participate in the construction of new facilities under state programs being implemented in the region, and to share experience and technologies in waste processing and the reconstruction of water supply systems,” the deputy prime minister added.

Attention is also paid to the humanitarian aspect of cooperation. “We invite your athletes to participate in all competitions held in Belarus and to actively utilize the potential of our sports infrastructure for preparation for major international competitions. We are opening our doors wide to residents of Yaroslavl Oblast: Belarus is a country with a fascinating history, rich traditions, beautiful nature, amazing architecture, and hospitable people. We have much to surprise tourists with,” Viktor Karankevich emphasized.
