Belarus eager to export more geological surveying services

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Belarus intends to expand the export of geological surveying services, BelTA learned from Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Khudyk during the third Eurasian mining and geology forum Digitalization of the Mining Industry for the Joint Development and Prosperity in Eurasia on 15 November.

The minister said: “Our specialists rely on accomplishments of the Soviet school and modern geological surveying technologies. This branch is being actively developed in Belarus. Today we offer geological surveying services to other countries and are eager to increase this export. We work in Russia, Kazakhstan, and other CIS states as well as in Africa. We work in Cuba, Venezuela, and Pakistan.”

The buildup of Belarus' prospected stock of mineral resources and raw materials is a most important task along with efforts to improve the system of geological surveying work in the country. “We are primarily focused on increasing the extraction of hydrocarbon raw materials. We explore new geological surveying technologies and try to increase the supply of extractable resources at a minimal cost,” said Andrei Khudyk.

The third Eurasian mining and geology forum Digitalization of the Mining Industry for the Joint Development and Prosperity in Eurasia is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 14-16 November. Taking part in the forum are about 300 people from 17 countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Europe, and Asia, including Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Germany, and Poland. Participants of the forum are expected to discuss prospects of cooperation in the digital transformation of the mining industry as well as interaction of integration associations (the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ASEAN, and UN) in geology and the use of subsurface resources. The development of the credit and finance infrastructure available to the raw materials markets in Eurasia will be evaluated. Key topics of the forum also include the coordination of the transport policy and the development of the infrastructure for transporting raw materials in Eurasia, work to synchronize standards for classifying and recording extractable resources, work to detect barriers, exemptions, and provisions. Participants of the forum will also discuss the development of the common information space in Eurasia with regard to the mining industry and the establishment of common digital platforms.
