Belarus doubles exports to Sweden

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – In January-September 2018 Belarus almost doubled its exports to Sweden, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Sweden.

“Since the start of the year the mutual trade has risen by 28%. Belarus' export has demonstrated an 87.3% increase in goods and 30.6% in services. Swedish direct investment has soared 35.2%. We are catching up on the lost time since 2012,” Belarusian Ambassador Dmitry Mironchik said on his Twitter account.

According to the embassy, after 2012 the bilateral relations worsened and the Belarusian export to the Swedish market reduced.

In January-September 2018 Belarus exports to Sweden surged by a record high of 87.3% as against the same period a year earlier to total $39.7 million. Imports from Sweden rose by 12% during the period under review and amounted to $87.7 million.

In January-September 2018 net direct investments from Sweden in the Belarusian economy total $9.3 million, which was 35.2% more than in the same period a year prior. In general, the investment cooperation has been on a very positive track: the total volume of Swedish investment (taking into account the portfolio investments, loans) amounted to $34.4 million as against $28.7 million a year earlier.
