Belarus’ cooperation with Russia’s Stavropol Territory advances fast

STAVROPOL, 28 November (BelTA) – As he met with Governor of Russia’s Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi sketched out a number of promising cooperation avenues, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Krutoi remarked that the Belarusian mechanical engineering companies Gomselmash, MAZ, and Amkodor had increased sales of machines and vehicles to Stavropol Territory. “A project for replacing old elevators as part of major overhauls is going on very well. Mogilevliftmash has a very steady market in Stavropol Territory,” he added. The Belarusian side is also interested in selling passenger vehicles to the region. “I hope we will genuinely participate in the next year’s tenders for the acquisition of trams, trolleybuses, and buses,” the head of the Belarus President Administration stressed.
Plans have been made to further develop OOO MTZ-Stavropol Trading House as an important manufacturing cooperation project in the region. There are plans to get other manufacturers involved and create a multibrand center. A land plot will be allocated for these goals.

Another joint project concerns electricity consumption meters. “Two Stavropol Territory companies work quite well in Belarus. They have found partners in Fanipol and Gomel. They are doing fine and are expanding the product lineup. A large program is in progress in our country to replace [old meters] with digital ones,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
He also mentioned plans to expand the investment program of Amkodor Company. “The accomplishments you’ve secured with the previous management will be definitely continued,” the head of the Belarus President Administration assured.

Stavropol Territory is implementing a large program on modernizing the animal husbandry industry and on building dairy farms. Individual pilot projects for the acquisition of Belarusian milking equipment have already been launched.

“The new topic of superintensive orchards that you presented during the latest meeting with our president is in the works. For he head of state it is also one of the key projects with Stavropol Territory. He personally pays a lot of attention to new products, including new crop varieties, horticulture products. Instructions have been given in Belarus to revive orchards fast. We are going to plant about 1,000ha for the next three years. We would like your specialists to continue cooperating with ours on this topic. We have very good communication at the level of the Fruit Farming Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and at the level of concrete companies. We have farmers, who specialize heavily in this area and have received maximum support at the government level,” Dmitry Krutoi sketched out another promising cooperation avenue.

The Stavropol Territory governor mentioned that trade with Belarus had tripled in the last few years. Although a slight decrease in trade turnover has been registered this year, he is positive about future prospects of increasing trade with our country. He emphasized the advancement of cooperation with industrial enterprises, including with Amkodor Company.

“Two years ago we agreed on accommodating major Belarusian producers of agricultural machines and road machines in Stavropol Territory. The necessary procurement procedures were completed. A direct flight to connect the cities of Mineralnyye Vody and Minsk was launched and it works. Saplings were shipped to Belarus, orchards were created. Everything works out for us,” Vladimir Vladimirov commented on cooperation with Belarus.

Agreements have been reached on interaction in education, including in training personnel for the civil engineering industry. “Apart from that, with Amkodor Company we would like to arrange internships for young workers in order to form the personnel potential for accommodating Belarusian machine-building enterprises in Stavropol Territory,” the governor added.

During the conversation with reporters he also raised the matter of cooperation in preserving the historical memory about the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. “I’ll give you a personal example. In order for my kids to know history, we’ve been to Belarus. I drove them to [WW2 memorial] Khatyn, to the Brest Fortress. To read about it is one thing. To see the traces of the war is a totally different thing. I recall tales of my grandfather and pass them on to my kids. If every adult in Belarus and Russia shows and explains to their kids how things had happened, then nobody would be able to rewrite history,” Vladimir Vladimirov concluded.
