MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) - The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) reached agreements to increase exports of domestic agricultural products to the United Arab Emirates and other countries of the Middle East on the margins of the international food exhibition Gulfood in Dubai, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the BUCE held talks with more than 30 distributors of agricultural products, many of which expressed their readiness to use the BUCE electronic platform to purchase Belarusian milk powder, whey powder, and frozen semi-finished meat products. Experts believe that the expansion of the pool of the UAE importers accredited with the exchange will contribute to the increase in exports to the UAE, which reached $43 million in 2024.
"Last year, the UAE companies were among the top five buyers of Belarusian goods at the exchange. The share of agricultural products in the total volume of transactions concluded by the UAE companies amounted to 80%. The export of lumber accounted for the remaining 20%," the press service stressed. "As for agricultural goods, in 2024, the UAE imported mainly skimmed milk powder and amino acids through the exchange. In 2025, whole milk powder was added to this list. The exchange has been actively working to increase sales of Belarusian-made amino acids. Since the beginning of the year, the amount of exchange transactions for their sale in the UAE has exceeded $20.5 million."
A representative of the BUCE also met with the leadership of the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX). The parties agreed to establish partnership and jointly develop exchange trade between Belarus and the UAE.
"This is a significant step in the development of institutional partnership, which will enhance cooperation between our platforms and create additional opportunities to attract UAE business communities to Belarus's commodity exchange market," said Yaroslav Kovalchuk, Assistant Chairman of the BUCE Board.
As of 1 February, a total of 33 residents of the United Arab Emirates are accredited with the BUCE.
