Belarus-China exchange trade up 11%

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - The exchange trade between Belarus and China has increased by 11%, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).

China is one of Belarus' primary partners in electronic exchange trading, ranking second only to Russia in terms of mutual trade volume. In the first nine months of 2025, the total value of transactions by residents of the People's Republic of China on the BUCE reached $127 million, which is up 11% year-on-year. The number of Chinese participants in exchange trading is also growing. Since the start of the year, it has increased by 68, and as of today, 315 companies from China, including four brokers, are accredited with the BUCE.

These figures were cited by Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange German Puzyrny during his speech at the session “Practical Aspects of Cooperation with Chinese Counterparties” at the Brest economic forum China as Strategic Partner. The event brought together leading experts from Belarus, China, and Russia, as well as over 120 business representatives who already work with China or are just planning to enter the Chinese market.

“When developing the Chinese direction of our exchange trade, we applied a comprehensive approach, which allowed us to achieve the desired result in a relatively short period. Staff who speak Chinese, a representative office in Shanghai, a network of resident exchange brokers in China, the possibility of settlements in yuan, and special export trading sessions for China - all of this helped us find the key to the Chinese market and attract Chinese businesses to the exchange,” German Puzyrny stressed. According to the BUCE representative, the prospects for developing Belarus-China cooperation in the exchange sector are enormous.

Through the exchange mechanism, Belarus supplies China with timber, pulp, meat and dairy products, and flax fiber. “This is the foundation of our exchange trade with China, which we are constantly strengthening by increasing transaction volumes and expanding the pool of Chinese buyers. At the same time, there are still many commodity items in Belarus not yet involved in mutual exchange trade with China that could become new growth points. Here we are referring not to raw materials, but to high value-added finished products,” German Puzyrny emphasized.
