Belarus calls for institutional cooperation with EU in export certification

MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Belarus calls for establishing institutional cooperation in export certification and trade facilitation, Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko said at the Belarus-EU consultation on the future of the Eastern Partnership, BelTA has learned.

“The EU has issued many documents acknowledging that the trade with the EU and the access to its market are crucial for the economies of the neighboring countries. States like Belarus would be primarily interested in institutional cooperation in accreditation of their exporting enterprises, standardization, metrology, harmonization of mutual recognition of product assessment systems, and trade facilitation,” Oleg Kravchenko said.

He noted that Belarus fully supports the idea to offer financial incentives for those EU companies that include companies from Eastern Europe in their production chains. This idea was put forward by Vice President of the European Investment Bank Vazil Hudak.

According to Oleg Kravchenko, economic diplomacy instruments would also be useful. They include a regular exchange of visits between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries, regional fairs and investment forums to attract investment in joint projects.
