Ambassador: Brazil hopes to resume cooperation between Belarus and Embraer

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Brazil hopes to restore cooperation between Embraer and Belarus, Brazil’s Ambassador to Belarus Bernard Klingl told journalists following his meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 2 February, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat expressed regret that cooperation between the two countries in this area had been hindered by sanctions. But now, with those restrictions lifted, it can be resumed. “We hope to resume this cooperation. This certainly depends not only on Belarus and Brazil; the broader political context must also be taken into account. We believe we will be able to overcome the remaining challenges, because we are convinced that cooperation between Belarus and Embraer will be mutually beneficial. We produce the best aircraft, and Belarus is ready to offer us a very large market, and not only Belarus itself, but also the CIS,” the ambassador said.

Belavia actively uses Brazilian Embraer aircraft for medium-haul flights. Embraer jets form an important part of its fleet alongside Boeing.
As for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, in January-November 2025 it nearly reached $766 million, which was an increase of almost 25% year-on-year. Belarusian exports accounted for the bulk – more than $700 million, up 30% from the same period in 2024. Belarus mainly supplies potash and nitrogen fertilizers, X-ray equipment, linen fabrics, control and measuring instruments, and profile projectors to Brazil. Imports from Brazil to Belarus consist primarily of specialty goods, coffee, frozen beef, acyclic alcohols, and juices.
